v1 of the RolodexAI application

Progress from 2nd — 8th Jan 2021

TLDR: Launched the RolodexAI app and got some great feedback on it

📈 Numbers

  1. We had 15 users who created an account on the app.
  2. We had 8 more people sign up on the waitlist — taking the total to 19 people. We may remove the waitlist since the app is now live.

🏆 Wins

  1. Version 1 of the RolodexAI app is live. You can add a connection, pick a time slot and see a list of all the people who are on RolodexAI on the directory (people need to make a separate profile if they want to publicly indicate they are on the platform — this is a bit confusing right now).
  2. We also did an explainer video and put out a new essay which talks about the fear of using technology to help us with our relationships and why it’s ok to use tech.

🤔 Lessons learnt

  1. People want to know who else are on the platform — this makes adding people to the Rolodex easier. The directory was build for this, but it’s objective is not clear to users.
  2. People don’t remember emails of other people and want to add people without knowing their email.
  3. People are unclear on what to do after they add a connection and time slot — there’s no mention of it in the explainer video either. There’s a lots more to do to make the app more intuitive and easy to use. Doing video calls with people as they use it is the best source fo feedback — plan to do more of that next week. If you’d like to volunteer, I’ll gladly buy you a coffee :) Buzz me at reuben.noronha92@gmail.com or leave a comment
  4. People are split between receiving notification when someone has sent them an invite or accepted their invite. Some people want to know and others don’t want spam.
  5. People would like to see connections who also want to keep in touch rather than all the people who they’ve added. They would also want to know people who have added them but they haven’t yet
  6. There was a lot UI and UX feedback, the biggest one that the app is not mobile optimised. Most people check mobile first so it’s important to get the app mobile ready before pushing it out.

This is a series where I’m building in public. I publish a report card every week as I build RolodexAI. You can read more about why I’m doing it here
