people signed up without us asking!

Progress from 30th Jan — 6th Feb

TLDR: People signed-up without us asking them to! 🎉

📈 Numbers

  1. We have 56 users who have signed up on the app.
  2. We have 2 active communities (we still have 5 live but 3 aren’t really active).
  3. We made 8 connections last week.

🏆 Wins

  1. We (finally) had some people sign up without us asking them to try out the product. I think they learnt about RolodexAI through some of my Facebook posts and 4 people signed up, added others from the directory, and we managed to make connections! This was a big one this week as this is what we wanted for our ideal user journey (next week, we’ll know how their experience was).
  2. We also made 8 connections, a big increase from last time.
  3. We also noticed that new users were adding a lot of people to their directory, which was great! Some people logged in again to add new people who had joined, which was also great to see.
  4. We implemented recurring time slots for some users. These users don’t have to pick a time every week, thus making the experience a bit simpler.

🤔 Lessons learnt

  1. People really want to know who all have added them. We sent out an email to everyone telling them how many people have added them and many were curious to know who they were. This also pushed people who didn’t add too many people to their Rolodex to go back and add more people, thus creating a flywheel.
  2. Building an audience before building a product! We saw that we were getting more signups on my college community and I think a big reason for that is that I started talking about RolodexAI in my podcast, which is targeting the same audience. I didn’t start the podcast with this goal, but it seemed like such a great match and along with social channels, I feel that will continue to fuel user growth for that one community.
  3. This is still a hunch, but I feel making a connection is sufficient for people to see the value of the platform. Getting people to match time is super hard and while we try for both, I think just doing the first is good enough. Again, time will tell if people see enough value in that.
  4. The business is better described as Tinder rather than LunchClub.
